Adding Control Panel icons. Users can add a Windows Control Panel icon by installing the software program or hardware device related to the icon. If doing this does not install an icon into the Windows Control Panel that is either listed in the below chart or has been present in the past, follow the steps below. Issue Mail (32-bit) icon in control panel lost its bitmap and is not active (clicking on the icon doesn't do anything).

Resolution

To launch the Mail applet manually, simply run:

Start > Run > C:WindowsSysWOW64control.exe mlcfg32.cpl

To fix the icon permanently, open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionControl PanelCpls

Open value mlcfg32.cpl and make sure its data is set to a valid path to MLCFG32.CPL file. Normally it should be: C:PROGRA~2MICROS~1Office14MLCFG32.CPL
