MacFamilyTree is another Mac-only program which can be purchased via the Mac App store at a sales price of $24.99. IFamily is a Mac-only program. However, the website notes that the purchase price for 'iFamily for Leopard' is $29.95. Note that Leopard was the Mac Operating System from 2007-2009. That's not very encouraging. IFamily for Mac is for Apple Macintosh users who like to use the latest hardware and the latest operating system. It will not run on systems earlier than Mac OSX 10.4 (Tiger). Although it works well on smaller machines it is best used with one of the larger displays (17 +) that is set to its maximum resolution and a mouse that has more that one. IFamily for Mac is a genealogy program for people who think differently. Whereas other genealogy software tends to emphasize the family unit, this software's focus is on each individual person. This distinction is subtle and is a feature of iFamily for Mac.

I am switching over from the 'dark side' to my first iMac, and need some advice re: genealogy software. On my PC I have an old version of Family Tree for Windows. From my limited research on the web, I have come across 3 programs for the mac. These are the latest versions of Reunion, MacFamilyTree, and iFamily. Again from my limited resaerch, it looks like Reunion, while very popular, the seems a bit 'old', iFamily is a bit 'off-beat', while MacFamilyTree seems in tune with the rest of the Mac approach. These are just my cursory observations gleaned from what the respective websites convey.
What would you recommend I get? Any personal experience with any of these?

Family Tree Maker for Mac 2 version 2 21.2.5 was recently made available, and it may have solved a very annoying bug.

Mac Makeup Review

A version of FTMM2 that was released earlier this year (going back to February or before) was causing some people to have issues with the media count/column in certain areass. Some of these counts were extremely high or were showing “0” even when media was attached, according to some genealogists on the Ancestry.com forums, and based on what I saw with a test I ran.

Good news though! According to a few posts I’ve seen around the internet, this issue may finally have been released with Family Tree Maker for Mac 2 21.2.5, the latest update. It’s not specifically mentioned in the release notes below:
