- Yesterday the first AutoCAD 2014 for Mac customers pealed the virtual shrinkwrap off their shiny digital copies. Here’s some info on this release from my friend Micah, the AutoCAD for Mac Product Manager: There's been quite a lot of press on the 2014 release already, both from Autodesk and beyond (here are but a few examples of the coverage to date).
- When trying to plot from AutoCAD for Mac on Mac OS X 10.12 (Sierra), including creating a PDF, the program crashes. Apple changed the print system in 10.12, which has affected plotting capabilities in AutoCAD. Install the latest update for AutoCAD for Mac and AutoCAD LT for Mac 2015/2016 (see Autodesk Downloads or click 'Check for Updates' within AutoCAD), or upgrade to release 2017.
- Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 Mac AutoCAD Macintosh version Design and shape the world around you with Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 Mac Macintosh version has been simplified. 2D and 3D design, maximizing productivity With the powerful tool for design and documentation gathering, simple design connectivity is the functionality of Autodesk AutoCAD 2014 Mac.
AutoCAD for Mac no longer follows the AutoCAD Windows release cycle but is now aligned with the Apple schedule to take advantage and be able to support major Apple OS updates. Today October 22nd, 2013 Apple announced the release of the next version of OSX Mavericks as well as some new iPads, Apps, laptop and Mac Pro announcements.
Update: Both AutoCAD for Mac 2014 on the Mac desktop and AutoCAD 360 on the new iPad Air were seen in today's Apple new products live announcement event.

Now there is a new AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac available for trial and purchase.
- AutoCAD for Mac 2014 and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac support the new Apple Mac OSX Mavericks OS which is the release after Mountain Lion.
- Retina Display Support: If you are using an Apple laptop or desktop that supports Retina Display you are in for a treat that will make your eyes happy. The drawing lines in-canvas, icons, UCS, ViewCube on a retina display will increase the pixel density by four times. It is amazing in clarity compared to standard pixel density.
Here are a couple examples of regular display and Retina display: - eTransmit Support: In Windows based AutoCAD there has been the eTransmit command for years to package up a DWG files and referenced files to send to someone else or archive a project. You now have this feature in AutoCAD 2014 for Mac (and AutoCAD LT 2014 for Mac) and the feature is named Package Drawing.

Now includes access to industry-specific toolsets and improved workflows across desktop, web and mobile. I used autocad on a mac around 2014-2015, the UI took some getting used to but was otherwise ok. The biggest issue was that there were a lot of limitations, commands that were straight up missing, weirdly limited plotting options, I forget what else. I normally use AutoCAD architecture on a PC, as well as Sketchup, and am learning to use Revit.

Autodesk announced in a press briefing that the AutoCAD 2014 and AutoCAD LT 2014 for the Mac would be available today. The timing for the Mac release was set to coincide with specific Mac development cycles, and will continue in that manner in the future, which the company feels is better for the AutoCAD Mac user base.
New improvements include:
- Support for Apple’s Retina display – AutoCAD now fully supports the high-definition Retina display throughout the UI, delivering with sharper lines, text, and tool icons, as well as significantly higher level of detail at high zoom levels.
- Synchronization with Autodesk 360 – Directly access of files and synchronization on the Autodesk 360 cloud.
- Package Drawing (eTransmit in std. AutoCAD): quickly collect related files into a compressed folder for easy distribution or archival.

- Default Save‐as‐Previous Version
- Software Security Enhancements: AutoCAD 2014 for Mac enhanced security to help prevent loading and running of malicious AutoLISP applications.
