Adb Change Serial Number Android

Posted on  by

I bought a lot (500+) cheap China tablet with AllWinner processor and Android 4.0.3. All tablets expose the same serial number. I can't deploy my application simultaneously on several devices (with a USB hub) using ADB.EXE because it can't distinguish them.

“adb shell” commands to Identify WiFi Mac Address, Product Model, Serial Number ( Device Information of Android ) If you are looking for the device information of your Android device such as, product model, manufacturer, serial number or WiFi mac address etc, we will show how this can be obtained using following adb shell commands.

I'm thinking about a pre-deploy process that change the internal serial number, is it possible? Where is the serial number stored?

  • The serial number you are referring to SNR above is the 6 digit (6 C's) is the serial number, which is manufacturer-defined, NOT the serial number returned by adb (verified, adb command returns 8 digit serial number) So, the answer remains same, use the adb command output.
  • Apr 04, 2019 Type “adb devices” and hit enter to launch the ADB daemon. Change the USB mode to “file. You should see the device serial number on the macOS’s. Is there an android shell or adb command that I could use to get a device's IMEI/MEID? Up vote 26 down vote favorite.

Note: tablets are rooted

You need to populate /sys/class/android_usb/android0/iSerial sysfs file with unique values for every device. Most vendors do it with custom init script, which would read the value from a persistent system property or a regular file and put it in sysfs on every power up.

Try editing /data/misc/wifi/serialnothen reboot, it worked as a permanent solution for me

The location of this number may differ between android versions

The serial number should be stored in a file with only the serial number inside and no n

build number etc by editing the 'build.prop' file in /system. The serial number can be changed by adding the property 'ro.serialno=' to build.prop file

If you have root access, you can enter this to a terminal emulator:

Disconnect then reconnect from the network to refresh.

I was on a Samsung Galaxy Note on ICS. Worked like a charm..

In android go to Settings > Applications > Development and tap on Device Hostname. You can then change the name and it should show up when attached to adb.

Another solution can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1462320. You will need to get root access and install a terminal client and do some low level hacking to get it fixed.

Another option is to use the Hosts app mentioned in http://www.thriveforums.org/forum/toshiba-thrive-networking/3157-how-do-i-change-device-name.html, though I haven't been able to find the app he is referring to.

Best option I think is just install Cyanogenmod on your devices. It's the most stable custom android rom and has lots of helpful other features that aren't in stock android.

I have several identical development systems (Odroid A) which report the same device code, thereby preventing me from using more than one on the same host PC with adb. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way of changing this from the gingerbread GUI on this platform as previously suggested.

The device serial number (as reported by 'adb devices') appears to be set in the kernel, under arch/arm/plat-s5p/devs.c (look for 'device_serial'). This may be different for your device, I'd suggest a grep through the kernel sources for the device ID that is reported by adb devices. Change the string, rebuild the kernel and flash it on..

Looks to be different on ICS by the way..

You can set persist.usb.serialno property. I checked it on Galaxy S4/S4 mini and it's persistent, but you need root access:

Anandam tamil serial last episode. Idealshare videogo license keygen. Than in adb devices you'll have

I was also facing the same issue.where two device connected were showing same id in adb devices.

I found this link which solved my issue. Just downloaded the adb from the following link and replaced my original adb.

ADB and Fastboot are versatile command-line tools for Android devices and emulators. It’s very easy to download and setup ADB and Fastboot on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Since Google doesn’t provide the Android SDK platform-tools for Android devices officially, it’s not easy to install ADB and Fastboot on Android devices via the Termux terminal emulator app without root. However, if you want to use ADB commands on your device, you must root it first.

It’s possible to install ADB and Fastboot on Android by cloning any of the 3 Gits listed below using a terminal emulator like Termux.

Installing ADB and Fastboot via Termux

If you are a Mac user, don’t forget to check out my detailed tutorial on installing ADB and Fastboot on macOS.

Now let’s see how you can install ADB and Fastboot on an Android phone or tablet.

  1. Download and install Termux from the Play Store.
  2. Having installed the app, you need to grant Storage permission to Termux. To do so, go to Settings > Apps > Termux and tap on Permissions. Then tap on Storage and select Allow.
  3. Now open Termux, type the following command, and tap the Enter key on the keyboard.
  4. Now, execute the following command to upgrade Termux packages.
  5. Since ADB Fastboot Termux is a Python-based script, we need to install Python on the Android device. Issue the following command in Termux.
  6. While Python is being installed on your Android device, you might be prompted to authorize the installation by typing ‘Y‘ (for Yes).
  7. Since we have to clone a Git from Github, you’ll need to install another package called Git using this command.
  8. Okay, it’s time now to clone the ADB Fastboot Termux Git using Termux.
  9. Now that the ADB and Fastboot Git has been cloned to your Android device we need to change the path directory path using cd as shown below (see the screenshot above).
  10. Finally, execute the following command in Termux.
  11. As soon as you tap the Enter key, a new screen will appear and you would be prompted to type 1 to install ADB and Fastboot on your Android device, and 2 to uninstall if already installed them. Type 1 and tap the Enter key.
  12. When ADB and Fastboot are installed, you’ll get a message saying, “Tools were successfully installed!

You can also install the ADB and Fastboot tools on your Android using a single command. This command includes all the above commands in one line.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy device, you can download Samsung firmware on your phone or tablet via Termux. Read my detailed tutorial to learn how you can do that.

Using ADB and Fastboot Commands on Android

Having set up ADB and Fastboot on your Android phone or tablet, it’s time to verify that you have done everything as expected. Type one of the following commands in Termux and tap the Enter key.

As you can see below, you’ll get information such as the Android Debug Bridge version and other ADB options on your phone’s screen.

Please note that if you run the adb devices command, you won’t get any device ID under the list of devices attached because your Android device will now act like an ADB/Fastboot host.

Android Adb For Windows

You need to connect another Android device using a USB OTG or a USB Type-C to a USB Type-C cable.

Please note that in order to use ADB and Fastboot commands, your host Android device needs to be rooted. I’ll be updating this tutorial describing the steps to use ADB commands without a PC or laptop.
