Facebook has a feature that enables you to send private messages to your friends. Think of it like Facebook e-mail, only your personal e-mail address is not revealed. Even better, you can e-mail those whose e-mail addresses you don’t know. Sending messages to non-Facebook friends is built into the system, allowing for private chatting (instead of posting on public Walls). It’s important to note that while you can follow the easy process outlined below to privately message friends on Facebook on desktop devices, messaging on your smart phone is a bit different and requires the Messenger app.

Apr 10, 2020 Tap 'Send.' The send button is located to the right of the text box and will not appear until text or a picture, emoji, or GIF has been entered into the text box. Depending on the user's notification settings, the user may or may not receive a notification that they have a new message. Under Direct Messages, and next to Receive messages from anyone, check the box to allow anyone to send you Direct Messages. Note: Disabling the Receive messages from anyone setting will not prevent you from continuing to receive Direct Messages from someone you don't follow if you have a prior conversation already established with that person. A private message on Messenger is possible to be really private if you are using or doing your own encrypting. If the encryptions are done by a third party, then there is always a chance that the message privacy can be questionable.
